• 💐 Flowers, music, and moments of silence marked the occasion, attended by survivors, family members, friends, and first responders.

The 2017 Attack

• 🗓️ On October 31st, 2017, a man drove a rental truck onto the West Side bike path, killing eight people.
• 🇦🇷 Five friends from Argentina were among the victims: Ariel Erlig, Diego Angelini, Hernand Mendoza, Alejandro Panuko, and Hernan Fucci.
• 🇧🇪 Aristine Melissus and his wife, who were injured, traveled from Belgium for the remembrance, with Marian losing both her legs.
• 🇺🇸 Darren Drake from New Jersey and Nicholas Cleaves from New York City were also killed in the attack.

Call for Support

• 🗣️ A plea was made to then-President Donald Trump to prioritize and shepherd a complete, fast, and effective support program for victims of terrorism and first responders.
• 💸 Families of the victims are still struggling financially and seeking better support systems for themselves and their children.
