Powering the Mobile Office

• ⚡ The core of the mobile power setup is an EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 with an expansion battery, providing 8 kWh of capacity.
• 🔌 A hybrid power solution is used, combining the solar generator with a complete wiring cabinet for DC, AC, and solar inputs/outputs, including an alternator charger.
• 🔋 Daily power consumption is around 1.6 kWh, requiring multiple charging methods: an 800W alternator charger, 400W roof solar, and an additional 400W from folding solar panels when parked.
• 💡 A smaller Soen Apex 300 with expansion batteries is also used, offering modularity and DC output for essential van functions like fans and pumps.

Connectivity for Remote Work

• 📶 Multiple cellular data plans on phones are insufficient for reliable video calls, with speeds around 20 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload.
• 🛰️ Starlink Mini is the key to enabling remote work, providing significantly faster download speeds (up to 200 Mbps) and upload speeds (30-40 Mbps), though latency is not ideal for high-performance gaming.
• 🔗 The Starlink Mini's magnetic mount can be run through weather stripping, allowing the door to close while maintaining connectivity.

Mobile Workstation and Entertainment

• 🖥️ The primary workspace features a Lagoon table on a swiveling mount and a thin, lightweight Espresso 15-inch portable display connected via a single USB-C cable.
• 🛠️ A custom mount for the Espresso display was created using an iPad stand and a VESA adapter, ensuring stability.
• 🎬 A TCL Play Cube projector was tested for entertainment, offering good picture quality but suffering from insufficient battery life to last through a full movie.

Kitchen and Utilities

• 🍳 Cooking is primarily done on an induction cooktop which consumes significant power (300-1200 watts), with an air fryer noted as a luxury item.
• ☕ An espresso machine is used for quick and easy coffee, and a compressible water boiler is used for tea and soups.
• 💧 A Dometic Go jug with a LifeStraw attachment provides a simple and effective fresh drinking water filtration system.
• 🚽 A Tino toilet is stored under a bench seat, noted for being odor-free.

Smart Features and Van Life Essentials

• 🤖 SwitchBot devices (sensors, camera, hub) are being installed to automate the van, with potential for triggering the Max fan based on temperature sensors.
• 📍 The Park for Night app is an indispensable tool for finding overnight parking locations, including farms, vineyards, and beach spots.
• 🔦 Headlamps are considered essential for hands-free operation, with a Bolite 500 being tested.
• ✍️ For downtime, a low-tech approach is taken with a traveler's notebook and pen, supplemented by an Instax printer for journaling.
