Two Fatal Canal Crashes in Weston Result in Two Deaths

Discovery of Deceased Individuals

• 💔 A brother discovered the body of his 26-year-old brother, Romero Gomez, in a canal near the 18,000 block of Chrome Avenue after he disappeared while fishing.
• 🔍 Detectives from the Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) are investigating the incident after friends found Gomez's submerged Chevy Tahoe.

Multiple Canal Incidents

• 🚗 Three separate canal incidents occurred throughout the day, with first responders locating bodies in two of them.
• 📍 One incident involved an FHP unit responding to reports of a possible car in a canal along I-75 and Rural Palm Boulevard in Weston.
• 🌊 Another incident at the 1400 block of US 27 also resulted in a deadly discovery, with dive members seen pulling a body from the water and a white SUV being towed out.

Ongoing Investigations

• 🕵️ BSO's traffic homicide unit was actively working at the scene where Romero Gomez's vehicle was found.
• ⚠️ Two of the three canal incidents are currently under investigation by BSO.
