Tropical Weather Update: July 20, 2025 - Tropics Remain Quiet

Tropical Wave Activity

• ⚠️ A tropical wave is currently moving through the central Atlantic, but has a low chance of development (around 10%).
• 💨 Dry Saharan dust is present north of the wave, and while conditions are somewhat favorable to its south with low wind shear, it's expected to encounter increasing wind shear and dry air, becoming unfavorable for development.

Gulf of Mexico Activity

• 💧 Moisture from a previous system that moved over Louisiana is now working its way through Mississippi and Alabama.
• 🔄 This moisture is expected to move back into the Atlantic and eventually return over Florida later in the week, increasing rain chances.
• 📉 There is a very low chance of redevelopment or development of a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico, though it will be monitored due to warm waters.

Overall Tropical Outlook

• 🌴 The tropics are generally quiet outside of the mentioned tropical wave and the moisture returning to Florida.
