• 🗓️ After going dark for years, Rader resurfaced in March 2004, sending communications to KAKE TV, including photocopied snapshots of a woman and a driver's license belonging to Vicky Weggerly, whose 1986 murder was unsolved.
• 🔍 DNA evidence from Weggerly's case and other BTK crime scenes began to link Rader, prompting a massive investigation involving 1,600 DNA swabs from men in the Wichita area.

BTK's Continued Communication and Investigation

• 📦 In June 2004, a communication containing graphic descriptions of the Otero family murders and a drawing of a bound female was found, followed by another package in July containing details of a supposed involvement in the death of Jake Allen.
• 🧠 Rader's communications became more frequent, including a "uno dose trace theory" based on the number three and triangles, and a cereal box containing jewelry and a doll with bindings.
• 📰 The investigation intensified when Rader inquired about a communication from a Home Depot parking lot, leading to the retrieval of a cereal box containing a list of his "PJs" (projects) and a question about tracing computer discs.

The Capture and Confession of Dennis Rader

• 💻 In January 2005, Rader, now president of the Christ Lutheran Church council, sent a test message on a computer disc, revealing his identity and connection to the church.
• 🕵️‍♂️ Investigators obtained DNA from Rader's daughter, confirming a match to the killer's DNA, and meticulously planned his arrest, involving 215 officers.
• 🚗 On February 16, 2005, Dennis Rader was arrested while driving to lunch, ending a 30-year manhunt.
