• 🚆 Hundreds of Sudanese are celebrating their return from Egypt, boarding a free train from Cairo to Asswan, with onward travel to Khartoum.
• 🌍 These returnees are among the thousands displaced by the conflict who are heading back into territory retaken by the Sudanese armed forces from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum.

Scale of Displacement and Return

• 📈 Over 4 million Sudanese fled to neighboring countries, with more than 1.5 million going to Egypt, following the outbreak of war in April 2023.
• ✈️ Since the start of the year, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that over 190,000 people have crossed the border from Egypt back into Sudan.
