Revelation 8-9: The Seven Trumpets and the "Woes"

The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer

• 🕊️ The opening of the seventh seal brings silence in heaven for about half an hour, preceding the seven trumpets.
• 😇 Seven angels are given seven trumpets, and another angel offers incense with the prayers of the saints on a golden altar.

The First Four Trumpets

• 🌍 The first angel's trumpet results in hail, fire mixed with blood, burning a third of the earth, trees, and grass.
• 🌊 The second angel's trumpet causes a mountain ablaze to be thrown into the sea, turning a third of it to blood, killing sea creatures, and destroying ships.
• 💧 The third angel's trumpet unleashes a blazing star named Wormwood, which poisons a third of the waters, causing many deaths.
• 🌑 The fourth angel's trumpet darkens a third of the sun, moon, and stars, leading to a third less light during both day and night, possibly due to atmospheric darkening.

The First Three "Woes"

• 🦅 An eagle cries "Woe, woe, woe" to the inhabitants of the earth, signaling the impending trumpet blasts from the remaining three angels.
• 💥 The fifth angel's trumpet unleashes smoke from the abyss, darkening the sky and releasing locusts that torment only those without God's seal for five months.
• 🦂 These locusts, described as resembling horses with scorpion-like tails, inflict agony, causing people to seek death but be unable to find it.
• ⚔️ The sixth angel's trumpet releases four angels bound at the Euphrates, who lead an army of 200 million troops to kill a third of mankind with plagues of fire, smoke, and sulfur.

Lack of Repentance

• 💔 Despite these catastrophic events, the remaining people do not repent of their sins, continuing to worship idols and engage in immoral practices.
• 🚫 The lack of repentance underscores the theme that even severe judgment does not lead to a change of heart for the majority.
