Response to Bondi Attack

New Legislative Measures

• ⚖️ The government will introduce legislative reforms to combat hate, division, and radicalization, including aggravated hate speech offenses for leaders promoting violence and increased penalties.
• 🎯 Changes will include developing a regime for listing organizations whose leaders promote hate speech or racial hatred, and a narrow federal offense for serious vilification based on race or advocating racial supremacy.
• 🛂 The Minister for Home Affairs will receive new powers to cancel or reject visas for individuals who spread hate or division in Australia.
• ✅ The government is shifting legal thresholds to take action against organizations and individuals promoting hate, acknowledging that previous laws were sometimes insufficient.

Educational Initiatives

• 📚 An Anti-Semitism Education Task Force will be established, chaired by David Gonsky and including the special envoy, to prevent, tackle, and respond to anti-Semitism across all levels of the Australian education system.
