NTSB Recovers Flight Data from Deadly Louisville Plane Crash

Investigation Update and Parties Involved

• 🔍 The NTSB has named parties to the investigation, including the FAA, UPS, Independent Pilots Association, Teamsters Union, Boeing Corporation, and GE Aircraft Engines.
• 🛠️ A multi-disciplinary team of over 30 NTSB specialists, including vehicle performance specialists and materials engineers, is on the ground, supported by dozens more in Washington D.C.

Preliminary Flight Data

• 📊 Preliminary flight data, commonly referred to as ADSB, was received from the FAA.
• ✈️ The last reported data point showed the aircraft at 475 ft altitude traveling at 183 knots at 5:13:32 AM EST on the accident night.
• ⏳ This data will be combined with other information to prepare a timeline of events and what was known in the cockpit and on the ground.

Physical Evidence Recovery

• 💨 A Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walk was conducted on runway 17 left and right.
• 🔩 Multiple pieces of engine fan blades and the main component of the number one engine were found on runway 17R.
• 🔬 These recovered engine parts have been transferred to a secured location for further examination of mechanical aspects.

Flight Recorder Data Extraction

• 📈 The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have been recovered and their data successfully extracted at the NTSB headquarters.
• 💾 The FDR download was successful, containing approximately 63 hours of data over 24 flights, including the accident flight, with about 420 recorded parameters.
• 🎙️ The CVR download was also successful, containing approximately two hours of audio, including the accident flight.
• ⚠️ The NTSB will not release the audio of the CVR, but a transcript of pertinent information will be made available after validation, which is expected to take a few days.
