Nintendo Switch 2: How to Calibrate Controllers and Fix Dead Zones

Calibrating Motion Controls

• 💡 Access the System Settings on your Nintendo Switch 2.
• 🎯 Navigate to Controllers and Accessories.
• 🎮 Select Calibrate Motion Controls and then Calibrate Controllers.
• ⚠️ Detach your controllers by pressing the release buttons on each side.
• 🕹️ For each controller, press and hold the minus or plus button, place it on a flat surface, and wait for calibration to complete.

Calibrating Control Sticks

• 📌 Go back to Controllers and Accessories and select Calibrate Control Sticks.
• 🚀 To begin, press and hold (tilt) one of the control sticks.
• 🔍 The screen will display a visual representation of the stick's current position, showing if it's centered.
• ⚠️ Be aware that calibrating is recommended only if you suspect a dead zone or misbehavior, as improper calibration could worsen issues.

Identifying and Fixing Dead Zones

• 📊 A dead zone can be identified if the stick does not return to the center of the circle when released, or if it doesn't reach the edge of the circle when fully tilted.
• ✅ To start the stick calibration process, press the X button (or tap 'Calibrate' if prompted).
• 🔄 Follow the on-screen instructions, tilting the stick towards the indicated icons and releasing when prompted.
• ✨ Complete the process by turning the controller around a few times until calibration is confirmed.
• 🏠 Press the Home button to return to the home screen once calibration is finished.
