MSI Cyborg 15: How to Enter Recovery Mode & Use BitLocker Recovery Key

Preparation for Recovery Mode

• 💡 Before starting, ensure you have access to your Microsoft account on another device by visiting aka.m/myrecoverykey.
• ⚠️ Incorrectly typing the URL can lead to scammer websites, so enter it precisely.
• 🔑 On the Microsoft recovery key website, you will find your BitLocker recovery key and its key ID, which are crucial for unlocking your device.

Entering Recovery Mode on MSI Cyborg 15

• 🔌 Shut down the laptop completely and wait for 30 seconds.
• ⚡ Immediately after pressing the power button, repeatedly press the F3 key (fourth from the left on the top row) until you see a "Please wait" message.
• 🖱️ Once in recovery mode, use the Tab key to navigate options, as the touchpad may not work. An external mouse is recommended.

Using the BitLocker Recovery Key

• ⚙️ Navigate to "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup settings" > "Restart" to potentially trigger BitLocker.
• 🔐 If your device is locked by BitLocker, a field will appear to enter the recovery key, along with a key ID.
• 🔍 Match the displayed key ID with the one on the Microsoft website. Note that the website list is not sorted by date, so you may need to scroll extensively.
• ⌨️ Enter the full recovery key from the website into the prompt on your laptop to unlock the device.
