A Grandmother's Cancer Journey

• 👵 Mary Osani, a Long Island grandmother, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
• 🧬 With a family history of pancreatic and breast cancers and a BRCA gene diagnosis at 49, Mary has been undergoing regular screenings.
• 🩺 In July 2023, Mary began experiencing symptoms, leading to testing at the Zuckerberg Cancer Institute.

Clinical Trial Participation

• 🔬 Testing revealed cancer in Mary's pancreas, a condition Dr. Daniel King notes can return quickly and is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
• 💊 After undergoing pancreatic surgery and chemotherapy, Mary became eligible for and participated in a clinical trial for one year, taking two pills in the morning and two in the evening.
• ✅ Mary is highlighted as a brave volunteer with a very good outcome, now cancer-free, a result previously unimaginable 25 years ago.
