Preparing for The Greatest Gathering

• 🚀 The "Hairfield Road" London Underground model railway is heading to The Greatest Gathering in Derby.
• 💡 The layout is being set up at Milton Keynes Model Railway Club in Bletchley Park, utilizing a 25x9 ft space to assemble the entire 23x8 ft layout.
• ✅ This full assembly allows for comprehensive work on scenery and snag resolution before the event.

Viaduct and Road Network Development

• 🏗️ Construction of a large viaduct scene is underway, inspired by the Piccadilly Line and North London Line.
• 🚌 The viaduct incorporates Bunters arches and a road system featuring a Viessmann car system for operational London buses.
• ⚠️ A lowered bridge section is being tested for train clearance, with potential adjustments needed if stock doesn't fit.

Enhanced Scenery and Details

• 🌱 Embankments are being transformed with rubberized horsehair, spray-painted and scattered with green and purple for a realistic, overgrown look.
• 🌳 Brass etched trees from 4D model shop add height and realism, creating new viewpoints for photography.
• 🚧 New additions include a GSMR mast, generator building, palisade fencing, and Woodland Scenics "underbrush" for a detailed, messy appearance.

Track and Rolling Stock Upgrades

• 🛤️ The track has been relaid to Code 75 throughout, with bullhead track used for the bay platform, replacing older Code 100 sections.
• 🚂 The 1962 scrap train features a weathered Class 37 locomotive and VDA vans.
• 🎨 A heavily graffitied 62 stock train, detailed by Peter with authentic London graffiti, is being motorized into an 8-car set.

Future Layout Expansion and Operation

• 🛠️ Plans include a reworked 10-road fiddle yard with a central dead-end road for shuttle operations.
• 🔄 A curved baseboard will be replaced with a straight one to facilitate the "other side of the triangle" and future connection to Croxy Hall depot.
• 🔌 Heat expansion issues on the fiddle yard are being addressed with expansion joints and link wires, and additional Ulenrock Daisy controllers are being added for improved operation.
