• 🐢 A loggerhead turtle, named 'Amadora', was found on the beach of Amadores in mid-October by swimmers.
• ⚠️ She was discovered to be very weak and had a 10 cm longline fishing hook lodged in her throat, still attached to fishing line.

Rehabilitation and Release

• 🩺 The turtle received treatment and was subsequently released back into the Atlantic Ocean.
• 📍 A tracker was attached to the turtle to monitor her real-time location, depth, and temperature data.

Marine Litter Hazard

• 🎣 Marine litter is identified as the primary hazard for turtles in the Canary Islands.
• 🩹 Many turtles are found entangled in marine debris, sometimes leading to the necessity of amputations.
