Community Resilience After Floods

• 🎗️ Kerrville ISD is focusing on moving forward with a great school year, emphasizing their strength as a community that has come together after tragedy.
• 🤝 The community has demonstrated unity and support in the wake of devastating floods that impacted the Texas Hill Country.

Supporting Students and Staff

• 🐶 The district provided extra counselors and therapy dogs to support students and staff returning to school after the flood incident.
• 🎒 Free backpacks and school supplies were distributed to every student in the district, with some hallways lined with donated backpacks to assist those in need.
• 🏠 The floods impacted 70 families within the district, with some students losing their homes and all possessions, highlighting the need for continued support.

District's Role in Disaster Response

• 🚌 Kerrville ISD campuses served as hubs for flood survivors and first responders, providing shelter and resources.
• 🏫 Tybee High School housed approximately 150 first responders, while the middle school accommodated around 400.
• 💔 The district also mourned the loss of one of their own, a high school teacher of the year and soccer coach, Ree Sunker, and his family.
