Huffman Elementary School Traffic Changes for Safer Pickup and Dropoff

Traffic Safety Improvements at Falcon Ridge Elementary

• ⚠️ Parents' safety concerns prompted changes to the pickup and dropoff line at Falcon Ridge Elementary in Huffman.
• 👮 TxDOT will deploy officers to direct traffic during peak hours, starting immediately.

New Traffic Staging and Access Control

• 🗺️ Traffic will be staged on closed northbound pavement off FM 2100, as provided by TxDOT maps.
• 🚦 Police officers will control access to the school from Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM and 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
• 🚫 During off-peak hours, TxDOT will cut off access from either direction to allow safe waiting for parents.

Ongoing Construction and Future Completion

• 🚧 A TxDOT construction project to expand lanes on FM 2100 is currently underway.
• 🗓️ The project is scheduled for completion in the winter of 2026, meaning temporary traffic disruptions will continue until then.
• 🤝 The presence of officers is a temporary measure to mitigate safety risks caused by traffic backups and dangerous driving behaviors, such as going the wrong way.
