How to Send Direct Messages (DMs) on X (Formerly Twitter) App

Accessing the Messages Section

• 📱 Open the X app on your phone.
• ✉️ Tap the letter icon located in the bottom right corner to access your messages section.

Starting a New Direct Message

• ➕ Tap the new message button or the plus sign icon in the bottom right corner.
• 🔍 Search for the username of the person you wish to DM.
• ✅ Select the specific person from the list that appears to initiate a chat.

Sending Your Message

• 💬 Type your message in the text box provided.
• ✈️ Hit the send button (paper plane icon) when you are ready to send your message.

Important DM Requirements

• 👥 You can only send DMs to people who follow you or who have their DMs open to everyone.
• ⚠️ If you cannot message someone, it is likely due to their DM settings.
