How to Send a Direct Message on the X (Twitter) App

Messaging Requirements on X

• ⚠️ You can only message individuals on X who follow you or have their direct messages (DMs) open to everyone.

Navigating to Messages

• 📱 Open the X application on your phone.
• ✉️ Tap the letter icon located in the bottom right corner of your screen to access the messages section.

Starting a New Direct Message

• ➕ Tap the new message button or the icon with a plus sign to initiate a new chat.
• 🔍 Search for the person you wish to DM by typing their username.
• 👤 Select the specific person from the list that appears to proceed to the chat.

Sending Your Message

• ✍️ Type your message in the designated field.
• ✈️ Hit the send button, represented by a paper plane icon, when you are ready.
• ✅ You will see a confirmation that your message has been sent.
