Houston Police: 5 Arrested After Stolen Car Stop, Officer-Involved Shooting

Stolen Car and Hit-and-Run

• 🚨 Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to a stolen vehicle that was also involved in a hit-and-run accident earlier in the day.
• ⚠️ The victim of the hit-and-run alleged that the individuals in the stolen car had displayed firearms.

Traffic Stop and Suspect Flee

• 📍 Officers located the stolen vehicle around 8:30 PM and initiated a traffic stop at 11900 block of Oakmore Street.
• 👥 There were five individuals in the car; two were immediately taken into custody, believed to be juveniles.
• 🏃 Three other individuals fled from officers, two believed to be adults and one a juvenile.

Officer-Involved Shooting

• 💥 During a pursuit of one fleeing juvenile suspect, the individual displayed a firearm.
• 🔫 In response, an officer discharged their weapon at least one time, but no one was struck.
• 🤝 The suspect then dropped the firearm and surrendered to officers.

Apprehension and Injuries

• 🐕 A K9 unit was deployed and assisted in apprehending the other two fleeing suspects nearby.
• 🩹 One of the apprehended suspects sustained a minor injury from contact with the canine.
• ✅ Thankfully, no officers or other suspects were injured during the incident or the shooting.

Investigation and Evidence

• 📹 Body camera footage captured the incident, including the suspect displaying a firearm.
• ⚖️ The footage will be processed and released within 30 days, following normal procedure for officer-involved shootings.
• 🔬 The HPD Special Investigations Unit is on scene collecting evidence and reviewing the footage.
