Rear End Conversion Parts Acquisition

• 💡 The project involves converting a Honda Civic SI's rear end to match the more aggressive and modernized look of the FD2 Type R variant.
• 🚗 All necessary parts were sourced from a single converted Type R Civic SI that had been in a front-end collision, making its rear-end components available.
• 🎨 The acquired parts, including tail lights, bumper, carbon diffuser, carbon trunk, and Mugen wing, were all in a "beautiful gray bronzy gold" color.

Tail Light and Trunk Installation

• 🛠️ The process began with removing the US-spec rear bumper and tail lights, which required some clearance adjustments due to the car's fitment.
• ✂️ A significant modification involved cutting an additional hole and trimming edges to accommodate the JDM Type R tail lights.
• 📦 The original US trunk was replaced with a VIS carbon trunk, reusing the existing latch mechanism for functionality.

Wiring and Bumper Reassembly

• 🔌 The main challenge identified was wiring the US tail lights to the JDM tail lights, particularly the reverse lights which needed to be rerouted from the bumper to the trunk.
• ✅ Aside from the reverse light wiring, which required splicing and extending, most other electrical connections were plug-and-play.
• 🔧 Reattaching the fiberglass bumper proved difficult, necessitating the removal of the rear wheels to ensure it was properly bolted on.

Final Touches and Future Plans

• ✨ Side skirts were also installed, matching the color of the rear bumper and sourced from the same donor car.
• 🎨 The car now features multiple colors due to the donor parts, but the plan is to respray the entire vehicle in red, the traditional Type R color.
• 🤔 A decision is pending on whether to retain the "SI" VTEC sticker or remove it for a cleaner look before the full respray.
