Draining and Refilling Fluids

• 🏍️ Begin the 10,000-mile service by draining both the engine oil and transmission oil using a 5/8 socket.
• 🔍 Inspect the magnetic drain plugs for metal debris; the transmission plug may show more sludge, which is normal. Always replace the O-rings on these plugs.
• ⚙️ Drain the primary fluid by removing the derby cover plug (also 5/8 socket), inspect its O-ring, replace it, and torque the plug.
• 🛢️ When replacing the oil filter, use an oil filter wrench and pre-fill the new filter with oil, lubricating the gasket.
• 💧 Refill the engine oil to approximately four quarts, checking the level on the dipstick when the bike is upright.
• 📏 For the transmission, add 28 ounces of fluid, ensuring it's measured accurately.
• 🌟 Fill the primary with 30 ounces of fluid, aiming for the level to be at the bottom of the derby cover opening when the bike is upright.

Air Filter and Spark Plugs

• 💨 After warming the engine and re-checking oil levels, address the air filter. If it's a stock filter, replace it; if aftermarket and cleanable, wash with soap and water, let it air dry, and re-oil.
• 🧐 Inspect the throttle body for excessive blow-by (oil accumulation) which could indicate a breather issue.
• ⚡ Remove and inspect spark plugs for a toasty color on the ceramic; a jet oily black indicates it's too rich, and chalk white suggests running too lean.

Belt Tension and Inspections

• 🧵 Check the drive belt tension by observing slack in the sight window (aim for no more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch of movement).
• 🧐 Inspect the belt teeth for cracks or missing chunks by lifting the bike and rotating the rear wheel.
• 🛑 Examine tires for damage and ensure correct tire pressure is set according to the sidewall recommendations.
• 🛑 Check brake rotors for grooving and brake pads for thickness, replacing if significantly worn.
• ✅ Perform a final visual inspection of the bike, checking all bulbs, bolts, wires, and looking for any leaks to complete the service.
