Abram and Lot's Separation

• 💡 Abram and Lot, due to their immense wealth in livestock and possessions, could no longer stay together, leading to quarrels between their herders.
• 🤝 Abram, to maintain peace, offered Lot the choice of direction: if Lot went left, Abram would go right, and vice versa.
• 🏞️ Lot surveyed the land and chose the well-watered plain of the Jordan, which resembled the Garden of the Lord, before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
• 🏘️ Lot settled near Sodom, a city whose inhabitants were wicked and sinning greatly against the Lord.
• 🌍 God then reaffirmed His promise to Abram, stating that all the land visible to him would be given to him and his offspring forever, with descendants as numerous as the dust of the earth.

Abram Rescues Lot

• ⚔️ In a subsequent event, four kings, led by Kedor Laomer of Elam, warred against five local kings, including those of Sodom and Gomorrah, eventually conquering them and capturing Lot and his possessions.
• 🏃 A survivor reported the capture to Abram, who, with his 318 trained men, pursued the kings and successfully rescued Lot and all the goods.
• 👑 Upon Abram's return, Melchizedek, the king of Salem and priest of God Most High, met him, bringing bread and wine, and blessed Abram.
• 🕊️ Melchizedek acknowledged God's deliverance of Abram's enemies into his hand, and Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
• 🚫 Abram refused any spoils from the king of Sodom, stating he would accept nothing to prevent the king from claiming he made Abram rich, except for the provisions consumed by his men.
