Farm Project Wrap-Up: Clearing Land, French Drains, and Burn Piles

Clearing and Grading Operations

• 🔥 A large burn pile is being restacked and managed to burn down, with efforts to break through ashes to ensure complete combustion.

French Drain Installation

• 💧 A French drain is being installed in a persistently wet area, believed to be caused by a spring or low elevation.
• 🛠️ The process involves digging a trench, laying a 4-inch pipe, and filling it with gravel to redirect surface runoff into a nearby pond.
• 🚧 Tyler is digging the trench following a painted line, aiming for a depth of 22-24 inches, with gravel to be filled to the surface.

Debris Management and Burial

• 🗑️ Ashes and unburned materials from the burn piles are being moved to a dug-out hole to bury the remaining debris.
• ⚠️ The burial site is strategically chosen in a corner or property line to avoid future construction areas, such as a horse pasture or potential barn site.
• 🚚 Multiple truckloads of dirt are being used to fill the hole and cover the buried material, with topsoil being saved to spread back over the area.

Project Completion and Future Plans

• ✅ The main clearing and grading project is nearing completion, with equipment being moved out.
• 🐎 The cleared area is being prepared for pasture, with potential future plans for a horse arena and a horse barn.
• 🏠 A damaged wellhouse is being dismantled and its block foundation will be buried, with a new fiberglass cover to be acquired.
• 🌾 The area is being graded and power-raked to be suitable for grass, and the French drain appears to be functioning correctly, managing surface runoff.
