DFW Weather: Small Rain Chance Sunday, Windy Conditions Expected

DFW Rainfall Update

• 💧 Dallas-Fort Worth is currently below normal for March rainfall, with just under an inch received, which is about an inch and a third below average for the month.
• 📈 While the year-to-date surplus is almost gone, the region is still slightly above normal for the year overall, by about a third of an inch.

Sunday Morning Forecast

• ☁️ Overnight, skies will remain clear with mild temperatures (around 61-65°F), but clouds will build by Sunday morning.
• 🌦️ A small chance of a spotty shower is possible Sunday morning, but severe weather is not expected for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
• 📍 The better chance for rain is located much farther southeast of the Metroplex, towards Athens, Mabank, and Canton.

Sunday Afternoon Conditions

• 💨 A weak cold front will move through around noon, leading to partly sunny skies and windy conditions throughout the day.
• ⚠️ Wind gusts are expected to be in the 15-20 mph range, increasing to 25-30+ mph in the afternoon, particularly west of the Metroplex, contributing to an enhanced fire threat.
• ⚡ A slight risk of severe weather (level 1) exists for areas like Corsicana and Athens, with potential for gusts up to 50-60 mph and quarter-sized hail, but coverage is expected to be very low.

Extended Forecast

• 🌦️ A slightly better chance of rain is forecast for Tuesday night into Wednesday, with temperatures in the upper 70s.
• ⛈️ Showers and storms are also possible on Thursday and again the following Friday, with highs in the upper 70s and mid-70s respectively.
• 🔥 While thunderstorm chances exist in North Texas this time of year, current forecasts do not indicate major severe weather setups, though isolated severe thunderstorms cannot be ruled out.
