Colossians 2:16-3:11: Living a New Life After Dying with Christ

Freedom from Human Rules

• 📜 Paul advises against letting others judge you based on dietary laws, festivals, new moons, or Sabbaths, stating these are merely shadows of things to come.
• 🧠 The reality and substance are found in Christ, not in external regulations or the worship of angels.
• 🚫 Do not be disqualified by those who rely on false humility and unspiritual notions, having lost their connection to Christ as the head.

Dying to the Old Self

• ✝️ Since believers have died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, they should not submit to rules based on human commands and teachings.
• 💡 These regulations, though appearing wise with self-imposed worship and harsh treatment of the body, lack value in restraining sensual indulgence.
• ⚠️ The power and authority to overcome fleshly desires come only through Christ, as the old self died on the cross.

Living the New Life in Christ

• 🌟 Since you have been raised with Christ, set your heart and mind on things above, where Christ is seated, not on earthly things.
• 🔑 Your life is now hidden with Christ in God, and when Christ appears, you will also appear with him in glory.
• 🚫 Put to death earthly nature's desires: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed (which is idolatry).
• 🗣️ Rid yourselves of anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language, and do not lie to each other.

Putting on the New Self

• 🎭 You have taken off your old self with its practices and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its creator.
• 🌍 In Christ, there is no distinction between Jew or Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, because Christ is all and is in all.
• 🕊️ All barriers that separate people based on origin or status are part of the old self; now, your people are God's people, and your ways are God's ways.
