Fledge Watch Begins for Big Bear Eagles

• 🦅 Fledge watch has officially begun for the Big Bear bald eagle family, with chicks Sunny and Or reaching a critical milestone.
• 🗓️ Sunny celebrated her 10th birthday today, and Or will reach the same age on Saturday.
• ✈️ Eagles typically begin to fly between 10 and 14 weeks old, meaning Sunny and Or could take flight any day now.

Parental Care and Independence

• 🌳 The two young eagles have been observed practicing flapping their wings within the nest.
• 🤝 Once they take flight, parents Jackie and Shadow will continue to follow and guide them for approximately 2 to 3 months.
• 🍳 This extended period of care is crucial for teaching the chicks how to hunt for food and become self-sufficient.

Future Visits and Independence

• 🏡 After becoming self-sufficient, the young eagles will eventually leave to find their own way.
