• 🎯 Two Gracial pups, Blueberry and Lichi, were released back into the wild at Tiana Beach in the Hamptons.
• 💡 Blueberry was rescued in late March after becoming entangled in fishing line, resulting in an infected laceration on her neck.
• ⚠️ Lichi was found stranded, a more typical case of seals struggling to eat and drink independently after leaving their mothers.
• 📈 The goal of the New York Marine Center is to treat these seals, help them double their weight, and avoid making them overly dependent on human care.
• 🎣 At the center, seals are trained to capture fish from the water, simulating natural hunting behaviors.

Marine Center Operations

• 📞 The New York Marine Center answered 30 rescue calls this season, with the help of the community, volunteers, and a hotline.
• 🏥 They currently have five seals remaining, with two more releases planned for the following week.
• 🗺️ One previously tagged seal demonstrated remarkable mobility, traveling all the way to Nova Scotia in just a couple of days.
