30th Annual Black Achievers Awards Recognize Broward Community Trailblazers

30 Years of Honoring Community Heroes

• 🏆 The JM family's Black Achievers event, now in its 30th year, celebrates unsung heroes who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
• 💡 The event was founded by Jim Moran, the founder of JM Lexus and JM Family, with the vision to recognize individuals with incredible work in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties.
• 📍 This year's ceremony is held at the iconic Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.

Honorees and Their Contributions

• 🎭 In Arts and Culture, Patricia Williams and Shirley Richardson, co-founders of the M Ensemble Company, are recognized for over 50 years dedicated to South Florida's longest-running African-American theater.
• ⚕️ For Business and Entrepreneurism, Dr. Herman Allen is honored for his 50+ years as a dentist, mentor, and advocate for health equity, notably for co-founding the 19th Street Medical Center.
• 🏈 Henry Crockett, a former NFL player, is the Community Service honoree for building the Crockett Foundation and dedicating his life to uplifting youth in South Florida.
• 📚 In Education, Annie Ruth Nelson is celebrated for 30 years of teaching in Palm Beach County and her current leadership as president of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, earning her the President's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outstanding Student Achievement

• 🎓 Rashana Lions, a graduating senior with a 4.3 GPA and over 300 community service hours, receives a 4-year full scholarship to Florida State University.
• 💰 Lions plans to pursue a career in finance and philanthropy.

Event Details

• 🎟️ The event is open to the public, with doors opening at 6:15 PM at the Parker Playhouse.
• 🎤 Local 10 anchor Calvin Hughes is serving as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
