Engine and Jet Pump Work

• 🚀 The engine was removed from the 1978 Sanger jet boat to provide more space for flooring work, not due to any mechanical issues.
• 🛠️ The entire jet pump assembly was taken out for a full rebuild, including replacing the existing jetavator with a juke snoot and diverter, and potentially adding a rooster booster.
• ⚙️ The pump rebuild is being handled by East Coast Squirt Boats, who will also power coat the components, with a decision pending on the final color.
• ⚠️ Removing the pump was a challenging process, particularly due to a tightly siliconed ring around the bowl, and the bearing/shaft appears to be faulty.

Addressing Water Damage and Flooring

• 💧 The old carpet and saturated spray foam underneath the wood planking were completely removed due to high moisture readings (around 80 on a 0-100 scale).
• ⚖️ This foam removal significantly reduced the boat's weight by approximately 200 lbs, which is expected to improve performance.
• 🪵 The boat was discovered to be a "quarter stringer boat" where the foam and wood provided structural support, necessitating a new flooring design with proper stringers.

Structural and Electrical Improvements

• 🔍 The back stringers will be inspected, as they are also anticipated to be wet, confirming the project's larger scope than initially expected.
• ⚡ All old and brittle wiring will be replaced, running from the engine bay to the front gauges, to ensure a reliable electrical system.
• ✅ The overall goal is to thoroughly tear down the boat to properly plan and execute a complete and correct rebuild.
