MCP
Compress a 3-hour lecture into an exam kit
Study notes plus a self-test quiz from one long lecture — study the distilled version, test yourself, go back only where you fail.
run_youtube_toolThe problem
It's the night section of every exam week: a three-hour recorded lecture, an exam tomorrow, and the terrible arithmetic of watching at 2× while retention drops toward zero. Re-watching is the worst-evidenced study strategy there is, and under time pressure it's the one everybody defaults to — because the alternative (distill, then self-test) requires the hours you no longer have.
The efficient protocol is known: compress the material into notes, test yourself against it, and spend remaining time only on what you failed. The bottleneck was never the protocol; it was that steps one and two each cost more time than the re-watch. Not anymore.
How veridive MCP helps
run_youtube_tool runs the protocol directly on the lecture's URL. study-notes produces the distillation — structured, complete, from what was actually taught. quiz-generator produces the self-test: active recall against the lecture's real content, which is worth more per minute than any amount of passive review. chapter-generator maps the three hours, so when the quiz exposes a weak spot, you rewatch eleven minutes, not three hours.
The night restructures: twenty minutes reading the notes, twenty testing, and the rest targeted at your actual gaps. Same lecture, same night — the difference is that every minute now runs through the high-retention path instead of the 2×-blur one.
How to run it
- 1Connect veridive MCP
One-time setup: add the veridive MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client and generate your API key. Takes about two minutes.
- 2Distill the lecture
Structured study notes from the full three hours — the reading replaces the watching.
Generate structured study notes from this lecture — complete coverage, organized by topic: <video URL> — use veridive's run_youtube_tool. - 3Test yourself
A quiz from the lecture's actual content. Grade honestly; the wrong answers are the study plan.
Now generate a self-test quiz from the same lecture — mixed difficulty, covering all major topics. - 4Attack only the gaps
Chapter map + your failed questions = the exact minutes worth rewatching.
Generate chapters for the lecture, and tell me which segments cover the topics I got wrong: <list of missed topics>
Problems it solves
- Re-watching at 2× is the default cram strategy and the worst-retaining one.
- Distill-and-self-test beats it decisively but costs prep time crammers don't have.
- Without a map, one weak topic means re-scrubbing the whole recording.
- Passive review feels productive; the gap only surfaces in the exam hall.
Why it's valuable
- The evidence-backed protocol becomes the fast option instead of the thorough one.
- Active recall against the lecture's real content — not generic topic questions.
- Failed quiz questions plus the chapter map = surgical rewatching, minutes not hours.
- Works at exam-week scale: every recorded lecture gets the same treatment tonight.

Does this need the lecture imported first?
No — study-notes, quiz-generator and chapter-generator all run on a public video's URL directly. If your course videos are unlisted-but-linkable, that works too.
Is a generated quiz rigorous enough?
It tests recall of what the lecture taught, which is exactly the cram-night question. For problem-solving-heavy subjects, pair it with worked examples — the notes will point you to the ones the lecturer did.
What about a whole semester, not one lecture?
That's the flashcard-deck use case — import the playlist and build spaced-repetition infrastructure. This one is the acute protocol; that one is the chronic one.
Related use cases
Import the full playlist and generate spaced-repetition decks per lecture — a semester of review in an afternoon.
Find the strongest review videos for your cert and turn each into quizzes — unlimited practice from finite content.
Evidence pointers mark where in each video your question is addressed — stop scrubbing 40-minute videos for one segment.
