POCO M8 Pro 5G: How to Import Contacts from SIM to Device Only

Accessing the Contacts App

• 💡 Open the Contacts app on your POCO M8 Pro 5G to begin the import process.
• ⚠️ Be aware of a notification prompt from the Contacts app itself; it's recommended to select Don't Allow as the app doesn't need to notify you about anything significant.

Managing Contact Sources

• 🔍 Within the Contacts app, you can view different sources: Xiaomi account, Google account, SIM card, and Device.
• 📌 Initially, the Device may show no contacts, which is important for the import process.

Importing SIM Contacts

• ⚙️ Navigate to Organize and then Manage SIM to initiate the contact import.
• 🎯 A crucial step is selecting the destination for your contacts: Device only, Device and Google, or Device and Xiaomi account.
• 🔒 It is recommended to choose Device only to prevent contacts from being synced to the cloud and to maintain local storage privacy.

Handling Import Prompts

• ❓ When importing, you might encounter a prompt asking to remove copies from SIM. It's advised to select Keep to retain a physical copy on your SIM card.
• 🚫 After import, you may see prompts from Google to sync contacts to the cloud; select No thanks or Dismiss to maintain local storage.

Editing and Backing Up Contacts

• ✍️ Imported contacts can be edited on the device, allowing for additional details like pictures, company information, and notes.
• ☁️ Be mindful that syncing these details to the cloud grants Google access to this information.
• 💾 For a secure transfer without cloud reliance, create a VCF backup file to move contacts to another device.
