How to Install Custom ROM (LineageOS) on Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 (SM-J530F)

Initial Setup and PC Preparation

• 💡 Enable Developer Options and OEM Unlock on your Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 by tapping the build number in Software Information.
• 💻 Download essential PC tools: Mini ADB and Fastboot, Samsung USB drivers, and Odin v3.14.4.
• 📂 Extract all downloaded files and install ADB, Samsung drivers, and the universal ADB driver.

Flashing Custom Recovery with Odin

• 📲 Power off the phone and boot into Download Mode (Volume Down + Power, then Volume Up).
• 🔌 Connect the phone to your PC via USB and launch Odin.
• 🚀 In Odin, click 'AP', select the OrangeFox recovery .tar file, uncheck 'Auto Reboot' in Options, and click 'Start' to flash.

Installing OrangeFox Recovery and Repartitioning

• 🔄 After Odin shows 'PASS', boot into recovery mode: hold Volume Down + Home + Power, then quickly switch to Volume Up + Home + Power until the Samsung logo appears.
• 🔒 In OrangeFox recovery, select Format Data, type 'yes' to confirm, and swipe to format.
• 🔄 Reboot back into recovery mode by selecting 'Reboot' and then 'Recovery'.

Installing LineageOS and GApps

• 📁 Copy the LineageOS ROM and Open GApps files to your phone's internal storage or SD card.
• 🛠️ In OrangeFox recovery, select 'Install', then navigate to the copied files. First, install the repartitioner file.
• 🧹 After the repartitioner installs, perform a Wipe (Dalvik/Cache, Data, Vendor) and then Format Data again by typing 'yes'.
• 🚀 Install LineageOS by selecting the ROM file and swiping to install, followed by installing Open GApps.
• ✅ After installation, wipe cache again and then select 'Reboot to System'.

First Boot and Verification

• 🌟 The phone will reboot with a new animation. Proceed through the initial setup, including language selection and Wi-Fi connection.
