## The problem

No executive announces M&A intent in a press release until the ink is dry. But put the same executive in hour two of a comfortable podcast and the discipline slips beautifully: "that's a space we think about a lot," "we've looked at a few things there," "build versus buy is a live conversation for us." Each phrase is nothing; the pattern is a pipeline.

Corp-dev teams pay bankers largely for this — a human network that hears who's acquisitive and who's for sale. The public layer of that same intelligence sits in hundreds of hours of long-form audio: executives at targets signaling openness, executives at rivals signaling appetite, board members musing about consolidation. Nobody listens to all of it. The team that does, hears deals forming a quarter early.

## How veridive MCP helps

**deep_search** monitors the chatter at scale: sweep your target list and your rivals' leadership against `podcast` and `interview` content, recency-filtered, and evidence timestamps land you on the exact minute the strategic musing happens — no scrubbing hour-two-of-three for one sentence.

**deep_query** reads the pattern: ask what a company's leadership has signaled about acquisitions, divestitures or consolidation across their recent appearances, and get a synthesized read **cited to each moment**. Run it target-by-target for the pipeline review, or space-by-space ("who's signaling appetite in <segment>?") for the landscape view. The banker network stays valuable — but you stop being the last to hear what was said out loud.

## How to run it

1. **Connect veridive MCP** — One-time setup: add the veridive MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client and generate your API key. Takes about two minutes.
2. **Sweep the target list** — Recent long-form appearances by the executives on your list — podcasts and interviews, where the discipline slips.

   ```
   Find recent podcast and interview appearances by <target company> executives — full-length, newest first — use veridive's deep_search.
   ```
3. **Extract the strategic signals** — Ask for the M&A-relevant moments specifically: appetite, openness, build-vs-buy talk, consolidation musing.

   ```
   Across these appearances: what has <company>'s leadership signaled about acquisitions, being acquired, or consolidation in <space>? Quote the moments, cited.
   ```
4. **Run the landscape pass quarterly** — Flip from company-view to space-view: who across the segment is signaling appetite, who's signaling fatigue.

   ```
   Who in <segment> has recently signaled acquisition appetite or openness to being acquired, based on public appearances? Map it with citations.
   ```

## Problems it solves

- Strategic intent leaks on podcasts months before it reaches announcements — and nobody's listening systematically.
- The signal is one sentence in hour two; manual monitoring across a target list is hopeless.
- Banker intelligence is expensive, selective, and arrives with the banker's incentives attached.
- Pipeline reviews run on stale assumptions about who's acquisitive and who's entrenched.

## Why it's valuable

- Deal formation heard a quarter early — when positioning is still possible.
- Every signal is cited: the pipeline discussion starts from 'here's the CEO saying it' clips.
- Target-view and landscape-view from the same machinery — company deep-dives and segment maps.
- A quarterly sweep costs prompts, not retainers — the public layer of banker intelligence, systematized.

## Example prompts

```
Recent podcast/interview appearances by <target> executives, newest first — use veridive's deep_search.
```

```
What has <company> leadership signaled about M&A or consolidation? Quoted moments, cited.
```

```
Who in <segment> is signaling acquisition appetite publicly? Map with citations.
```

## FAQ

**Aren't these signals too vague to act on?**

Individually yes — that's why they're said out loud. The value is aggregation: the same executive circling a theme across three appearances, or three companies in a segment all musing about consolidation. You're reading a pattern, and every data point stays cited.

**Does this replace banker relationships?**

No — it covers the public layer so your banker conversations start informed. 'We heard their CEO say X on <podcast> — what are you hearing?' is a much better use of the relationship than asking what's out there.

**How fresh is the coverage?**

Recency filters run down to this-week; new episodes surface once uploaded and transcribable. A monthly or quarterly cadence fits how fast this signal actually moves.
